The Hughes Holler camp site is located in the mix grassed prairie of central Kansas. The site was once a homestead of some of the early pioneers of the area. While none of the remnants of the former farmstead remain. The the tranquility of sitting at a campfire on the banks of the pond can let ones mind wonder about what life would have been like living there in days gone by. The site includes a spring fed pond with abundant fishing, predominately white bass. Guests are allowed to keep any fish they wish to eat on site. But please release any others back into the pond. There is a wooded area which provides nice shade for an area to relax from the Kansas summer sun and wind. Campers can also enjoy a camp fire either pond side of underneath the trees. Sleeping accommodations are in a deluxe water proof tent. There are 2 queen air mattress which will comfortably sleep 4 people. There is also a composting toilet on site. Glamping Hosts provide some hot drink mixes, a coffe perculator, pot for boiling water, or making soup, a cooking grate for the fire, some hygiene products. We are working on a solar shower! We are located 2 miles from the Kanopolis Lake wildlife and recreation area. Which includes numerous hiking trails at Horse Thief canyon. As well as 7 miles from historic Marquette with its unique downtown shops and activities: distillery, motorcycle museum, soda fountain shop/homemade ice cream, disc golf course, grocery store and liquor store. Also, located just 15 miles from Little Swedon, Lindsborg, KS. Pleasant stop
This was a perfect spot to spend the night driving distance to visit family. Very private. Very well appointed with anything you need. It was next to a small pond perfect for watching the sunset. Although I thought it might be buggy, there weren’t very many bugs since there were so many swallows, swooping and catching insects. Fun to watch. I also heard a great horned owl during the night. My Merlin Bird app heard Eastern meadowlarks and dickcissels. The second bird is something I don’t think they have where I’m from, I’m not familiar withit It turns out there is a new little store about 1/4 of a mile away called T&A bait and more. I walked over and met the very friendly and nice proprietor, Travis. I was able to get ice for my cooler, some cold drinks, a snack for me and for my dogs. And the next morning I was able to get yogurt and V-8 juice for a healthy breakfast. Be aware that it’s very sunny and can get hot in the afternoon. So if you have a camping chair with you, you can sit in the shade until the sun goes down. Also, the heat beats down on the privy, so be careful not to burn yourself! Also, you can hear some highway noise but after about 10 PM vehicles were few and far between so that wasn’t really a problem. Overall, the site was clean, neat and welcoming. I’m planning to return on my drive back home.

We absolutely loved this beautiful site! The yurt was comfy and well stocked with everything we needed. And the prairie all around the sight was just lovely. We found little bluestem, white sage, bundle flower, and so many more. There were also frogs and ducks at the pond while we were there. The host even brought us farm fresh eggs in the morning!

Wonderful glamping setup!
The tent setup was wonderful, very roomy with lots of little things, like lanterns and paper towels to meet your needs. The pond was picturesque, with the sounds of frogs and birds helping you enjoy the setting. We only stayed one night passing through but we were able to catch and release some bass and crappie after waking up to enjoy the peaceful morning. Would definitely recommend and sea again!

A lovely place to relax
This is an excellent spot if you want to do fun stuff around Kanopolis, but have more privacy. It’s well situated for the Lake Legacy Trail which is both lovely Kansas Prairie and Smoky Hill and also historical. The (free) motorcycle museum in Marquette was a fun stop when it rained. I was happy with the camp ground. The hosts were responsive and helpful. At the site saw a number of native flora and fauna: horny toads, an owl, big bull frogs, meadow larks, mulberries, Kentucky coffee tree, and sand plums.
